Breckenridge & Summit County

Breckenridge and Summit County make for a fun, scenic day trip from Buena Vista, about a 1.5–2 hour drive via Highway 24 and over Hoosier Pass. The drive itself is beautiful, with sweeping mountain views the whole way.

Food & Drink

Breckenridge has tons of great options for a casual lunch, après-style drinks, or a nice dinner. Main Street is packed with restaurants, breweries, and patios—perfect for grabbing a bite and soaking in the mountain town atmosphere.

Some of our favorites include Breckenridge Brewery, Breckenridge Distillery, Sauce on the Maggie, Empire Burger, Blue Stag Saloon,Downstairs and Eric's, Tin Plate Pizza & Unravel Coffee.

breckenridge gondola

Hop on the free BreckConnect Gondola for an easy, scenic ride up the mountain. Even if you’re not skiing, it’s a fun way to take in views and get a feel for the resort. Make sure to ride it all the way to the top (there are multiple stops). You can park at the North/South Gondola Lots

Isak the troll

Make a quick stop to see Isak Heartstone, a massive wooden troll sculpture tucked into the forest just outside of town. It’s a short, easy walk (1.1 mile & flat)  and a fun, unique photo spot. Park at the hockey rink (HERE) and then walk to the back of the parking lot (HERE) where the trail starts. Look for troll signs!
